Registration is now open for Camp Dakota, a summer camp for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The camp is located at Dilworth United Methodist Church on East Blvd and operates from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Camp Dakota is divided into three two-week sessions as follows:
Camp Dakota offers children with autism some of the same fun experiences
that many of us cherish as our fondest memories. Utilizing a low
camper/instructor ratio, Camp Dakota participants are able to strengthen
academic goals identified on their IEPs by pairing them with traditional
camp activities. In addition, the campers are given opportunities to
practice social and independence skills through group activities and
community outings.
The cost per camper is $600 per two week session plus a $50 activity fee.
Thanks to the Parker Autism Foundation (PAF), full and partial scholarships
are available so that every child who wishes to attend has the opportunity
(activity fee not included).
