On Friday, March 12, ASMC held an Open House and Dedication ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Gail B. Hanks Group Home for adults with Traumatic Brain Injuries. Guests were treated to refreshments and tours of the new home. A brief Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony were held at 2 p.m. NC Representative Beverly Earle joined ASMC’s staff, Board members, residents, and community supporters for this special event. Named in honor of long-time ASMC Speech Pathologist, Gail B. Hanks, the new six- person home contains state-of-the-art facilities featuring private rooms for each resident, wider hallways, an actvity room and multiple out-door living spaces. ASMC’s Board of Directors dedicated the home to Mrs. Hanks in recognition and appreciation of her 22 years of devoted service to all of the agency’s clients. Mary Reca Todd of the NC Housing Finance Agency was invited to speak following the dedication. She offered her congratulations to Mrs. Hanks and remarked that the grant funds from the House Finance Agency were an example of NC tax dollars at work. In addition, she announced that the NC Housing Finance Agency would be sending ASMC an additional housewarming gift to cover the cost of new window treatments . |
